Queen's Police Medal (QPM) – Full Size Medal

Queen's Police Medal (QPM) – Full Size

A full-size replica of the Queen's Police Medal (QPM), a prestigious British decoration awarded to members of the police service in recognition of distinguished service.

The Queen's Police Medal recognises exceptional dedication, leadership and outstanding contributions to policing in the United Kingdom and eligible overseas territories.

History of the Queen's Police Medal

Originally instituted in 1909 by King Edward VII as the King's Police Medal, the award was subsequently renamed the King's Police and Fire Services Medal before becoming the Queen's Police Medal following the accession of Queen Elizabeth II in 1952.

The medal has historically recognised both distinguished service and gallantry. However, the gallantry category was discontinued in 1954, leaving the Queen's Police Medal as an award for distinguished service.

Recipients of the Queen's Police Medal are entitled to use the post-nominal letters QPM.
