Full Size Medal Court Mounting
Full Size medal mounting 'Court' Style. Your medals will be mounted on a stiff backing and stitched down to prevent them rubbing together.
Court Mounting originates from the reign of Queen Victoria. Serving members of Her Majesty's Armed Forces in her attendance (in 'Court') were requested to ensure medals were sewn onto a backing board to prevent them from moving around and making a noise.
Court Mounting has been widely adopted by todays Award Forces. Whilst a more expensive form of mounting medals ready-to-wear, Court Mounting provides a more secure and longer lasting finish protecting medals from rubbing or bashing against each other.
This style of mounting protects the medals, particularly enamelled awards. Campaign medals, with the exception of those awarded during the two World Wars, are mounted in order of date of award.
Mounting & Display Options
We have a number of options to mount and/or display your medals. To have your medal/s framed for display, please see our framing options. To 'do-it-yourself' please see our Accessories page. We offer a professional Medal Mounting Service, which can be added to your order by selecting the relevant options above.
Swing Style Mounting
Medals are professionally mounted on a brooch bar using a variety of embroidery techniques and swing freely from the bar. This is the most common for of medal mounting, which produces a handsome finish to your medal or group of medals ready to be worn. The brooch bar has a secure pin on the reverse to be attached to your garment. A Medal Holder is available on which to attach the pin if you wish to protect your garment.
Medal Mounting Court Style
Medals are professionally mounted on a brooch bar using a variety of embroidery techniques. Court Mounted medals have a stiff backing board with the corresponding ribbon running all the way dawn the back of the medal. This is a more formal style of medal mounting which produces a stunning finish to your medal or group of medals ready to be worn. The brooch bar has a secure pin on the reverse to be attached to your garment. A Medal Holder is available on which to attach the pin if you wish to protect your garment.
If this option is selected, your award will be professionally mounted on a ladies style bow with tails using ribbon to match the medal. Only one bow should be worn, where a recipient has more than one medal they should be mounted in the gents style (either swing or court style).
