Free Gift

The Conspicuous Gallantry Medal (Flying) - EIIR. Possibly the rarest medal awarded during the reign of Queen Elizabeth, being awarded on only one occasion to Staff Sergeant J D Coughlan RAAF for his great gallantry while operating as a helicopter winch man during the Vietnam War in 1968.

In 1993 the medal was replaced by the CGC in the honours review.
