Wider Service Medal 2nd Award Bar (Full Size)
The Wider Service Medal Award Bar recognises further qualifying operational service beyond that required for the initial award of the Wider Service Medal.
Personnel become eligible for an additional bar after completing a further 180 days of aggregated qualifying service on approved operations.
Bars are awarded progressively to recognise continued operational commitment:
- First Bar – 360 days aggregated service
- Second Bar – 540 days aggregated service
- Third Bar – 720 days aggregated service
Upon completion of 900 days aggregated qualifying service, recipients are awarded the distinctive Gold Wider Service Medal Award Bar, signifying exceptional commitment across multiple qualifying deployments.
The Wider Service Medal was originally approved by Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 11 December 2018 and subsequently authorised by Royal Warrant under His Majesty King Charles III, with awards backdated to cover qualifying service from that date.
