The EU ESDP Medal with ALTHEA clasp Miniature Medal recognises service on Operation ALTHEA, the European Union military mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Launched on 2 December 2004, Operation ALTHEA assumed responsibility from NATO's Stabilisation Force (SFOR) and became the European Union's principal military operation in the Western Balkans. The mission was established to support the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, helping maintain a safe and secure environment while assisting Bosnia and Herzegovina in its continued recovery and development.
Personnel serving on Operation ALTHEA contributed to peacekeeping, security, military reform and capacity-building activities throughout the country.
This miniature medal is a scaled-down version of the full-size award and is designed for wear on mess dress, formal military functions, veterans' events and ceremonial occasions.
